2025 Building Trauma-Informed Communities (BTIC) Conference
The 6th Annual Building Trauma-Informed Communities (BTIC) Conference is for parents, grandparents, and caregivers of children.
Attendees will hear from changemakers and leaders who offer insights into adversity and its effects on children. Conference attendees will gain new methods, insights, and important information to help themselves and families create greater wellness and school success for children of all ages.

Conference Agenda
For registered guests only, conference check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. Free continental breakfast will be available. Welcome, keynote address, and general sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
- Welcome by NOCE President Valentina Purtell and acknowledgement of special guests
- Keynote: Tipping the Scale Towards Health – Dr. Dawn Bounds, UC Irvine Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing.
- General Session: Cultivating Resilience: Building Strength Through Connection – Chivonne Carter, LCSW, NOCE Parenting Program Adjunct Faculty.
Breakout sessions include:
- The Power of Self-Compassion – Cindy Roe, LCSW, Master Trainer, Western Youth Services.
- Early Childhood Development: Navigating Trauma and and Building Healthy Futures – Vidalia Navez, Help Me Grow.
- Handling Crisis – Noemi Vidal, MFT, NOCE Academic Counseling Faculty.
- And more!
Skill-building activities will provide learning-by-doing during some of the conference sessions. During lunch, a brief panel discussion with NOCE’s Parenting Program students will provide an introduction to NOCE’s Love and Logic classes.
The conference ends at 2:00 p.m.

Conference Attire
Casual or business casual attire. Hotel meeting rooms may be chilly – a light sweater or sweatshirt is recommended.
