Our ESL Specialty classes provide extra support and practice with specific skills to develop language fluency.
Whether you need help with computer skills or English pronunciation, the ESL Specialty classes are available to all students online and in-person. These classes are recommended to help students get the extra practice they need to advance in their ESL Program classes or in their personal life. For most topics, there are now separate classes available for students in the Beginning or Intermediate/Advanced levels.
ESL Specialty Classes We Offer Include:

ESL Computer Skills
The Beginning level includes the following basic skills:
- Computer parts
- Keyboarding
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Print Shop
The emphasis for the beginning level is to build confidence in computer use to improve English skills.
The Intermediate-Advanced level includes the following enhanced computer application tasks using:
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
- Print Shop
- The Internet
The emphasis for the Intermediate-Advanced level is to build confidence in independent projects to improve English skills. Students will be actively involved in computer projects linking the academic environment with their communities.

ESL Speaking Skills
Designed for Intermediate to Advanced ESL learners to improve their English, this course includes:
- Conversation practice

Reading and Writing
These courses are designed for Beginning and Intermediate/Advanced students.
The Reading class focuses on:
- Comprehension
- Vocabulary skills
- Critical thinking skills
- The Writing class focuses on: Sentence structure

- Outlining
- Drafting
- Revising
- Editing

Grammar Review
This course has been divided into separate classes for Beginning or Intermediate/Advanced ESL Program students. Students will learn to understand grammar structures in everyday situations. They will focus on practicing grammar in:
- oral communication
- written communication
Note: These courses supplement core ESL Program courses or work as stand-alone courses.

This course is divided into separate classes for Beginning or Intermediate/Advanced ESL Program students. Students will review, expand, and retain basic vocabulary words and phrases.
