Academic Tutoring

Tutoring is available to students at the Anaheim Learning Center or online. Come visit the Learning Center or schedule an online one-on-one tutoring session today!

  For privacy and confidentiality, find a private and quiet location where you can communicate comfortably. We recommend you log in using a private computer.

  Be sure to update your phone number and email in myGateway. You will receive instructions if there are technical difficulties and your counselor needs to use another option for communication (such as Zoom or a phone call).

The NOCE High School Diploma Program helps adults obtain their High School Diploma or equivalent by providing academic support and convenient classes for students.

High School Diploma Program 

The NOCE High School Diploma Program is for adults 18 or older to obtain their High School Diploma. The High School Diploma Program is tuition free.

GED/Hi-SET Program 

The NOCE GED/HiSET Program is for adults 18 or older to obtain their GED or Hi/SET certificate. The GED/HiSET Program is tuition free.

College Preparation Program 

The NOCE College Preparation Program provides students with an opportunity to develop their critical thinking and language skills to succeed in college-level credit courses. Noncredit College Prep Math and English courses are for students to build their foundational level mathematical, reading, and writing skills. The College Prep Program is tuition-free.

Basic Skills CASAS Assessment Information

Effective the 2022 Fall Semester, NOCE requires High School Diploma and GED/HiSET Prep Program students to take the comprehensive adult student assessment systems (CASAS). CASAS tests asses basic and academic skills in real-world contexts.

There will be a CASAS pre-test and post-test administered to High School Diploma and GED/HiSET Prep Program students in the Basic Skills Program.

In-Person Testing Hours from January 5 – May 22, 2026

The Basic Skills CASAS assessment labs will be closed on the following dates: January 19, 2026; February 13 – 17, 2026; and March 30 – April 3, 2026.

Important Reminders:

Please bring your Student ID and a Photo ID. Late arrivals will not be accepted.

Failure to attend an appointment prevents other students from completing their assessment and/or attaining their educational goals. Please cancel your online CASAS exam appointment prior to the test date if you are not able to make it. Repeatedly missing your online CASAS exam appointment may result in forfeiting future appointment requests.

High School Diploma vs. GED/HiSET

The choice between earning a high school diploma or a high school equivalency certificate (GED/HiSET) depends on your personal needs. However, here are some important factors to consider in making your decision:

You will receive a Welcome email from the California Community College Website with your account information and a code. Important: This code is NOT your student ID.

Learning Center is offered in-person and is open to students in all programs.

The NOCE College Preparation Program provides students with an opportunity to develop critical thinking and language skills to succeed in college-level courses.

Noncredit College Prep Math and English courses are for students who want to build their foundational math, reading, and writing skills.  The College Prep English and Math courses were developed in collaboration with Cypress College and Fullerton College. The College Prep Program is tuition-free. Textbooks and learning materials are housed in Canvas. Take the next step with us!   

Program Attendance and Waitlist Requirements 

• Prep classes are offered online. 
• The first class attendance is mandatory. 
• Students on the waitlist should attend the first class meeting.   
• Regular attendance is expected.  
• Students will be dropped off after four (4) absences. 
• Students may add classes up until the established add deadline. 

College Prep Areas of Study  

The NOCE College Prep Program helps students build the skills to succeed in College. We offer tutoring and support in the following areas:  

1. English – Students will build their reading, language arts, and writing skills.  
2. Mathematics – Students will learn basic math skills, including pre-algebra and elementary algebra.
