Coming Soon: Community Connections Student Club Meeting

May 11, 2018 9:00 AM

NOCE launched its first student club in March 2018. Since then, the Community Connections Student Club has been creating fun and inspiring opportunities for students. The Community Connections Student Club meets twice a month and hosts one activity to promote conversation and community. Wendy Torres, the student club president, said the club aims to connect students in fun, engaging and meaningful activities. The club builds camaraderie among students and provides a more enjoyable school experience.

So far, club members have had a “Cultural Dinner Out” where students went to an Asian Buffet together. While at the event, students encouraged each other to try different foods and discussed how to incorporate various culture’s traditional foods into their meetings. Club members also attended the California Women Lead Conference at the Disneyland Hotel on April 26 and 27. Wendy and Sue, community club members, attended workshops and learned about women in state leadership roles, as well as within the community. During their last meeting in April, the Community Connections Student Club discussed upcoming events and possibilities for more community involvement.

The club will be having officer elections for the Fall trimester at their next scheduled meeting on June 6, 2018. At the June meeting, students will also discuss future plans such as college tours, workshops on DACA, movie nights, and more. Join the Community Connections Student Club today to meet more people, seek opportunities, and take on a new leadership role at NOCE.
